The Philo School is located on 16 acres of enchanted land, 16 miles in from the Pacific Coast junction of Highways 1 and 128. The school offers Apprenticeships, Classes, Tours and prepares herbal products to include salves and hydrosols. 13 acres of the land are untouched redwoods with paths. 3 acres accomodate organic gardens and orchards, as well as housing. Director Mary Pat Palmer, MA, RH, is a Registered Herbalist who offers Certificate classes on Herbal Medicine.
The Philo School is dedicated to growing native and naturalized medicinal herbs with attention to drought tolerance, organic earth, and sustainable practices. There are currently over 200 species of medicinal herbs in the gardens.
