South Fork Mountain Interpretive Wayside Exhibits

Welcome to a panorama of outdoor adventure in the Ruth Lake area atop South Fork Mountain, the longest continuous mountain ridge in the continental US extending 47 miles. The universally accessible South Fork Mountain wayside exhibit interprets some of the Six Rivers National Forest, Mad River Ranger District recreation opportunities to choose from, location(s) to get recreation information, what an ecosystem is, what ecosystem management is, why the Lassics are unique geological features and appreciation for the sweeping, open views of the landscape before you. Peer over your shoulder and realize the Shasta Trinity National Forest is right behind you. The way side exhibit was developed in partnership by the Forest Service, California Department of Transportation and the California Conservation Corps.
Access: From the intersection of State Highways 101 and 36, travel east on Hwy. 36 55 miles. South Fork Mtn. wayside exhibit is on your right with ample paved parking on the left.
