Papermill Creek Saloon

< Back

The Papermill Creek Saloon, built in 1907, was originally a cafe and an ice cream parlor with a few rooms to rent. By 1938, however, ice cream gave way to headier libations; it has been a saloon ever since. Tales abound about the place. A bullet hole in the bar is said to bear witness to a jealous husbands poor aim. The locals can recall countless love affairs that began and ended many a marriage around that bar. One such story relates how a willful suitor rode his horse through the front door in hopes of impressing the comely bartendress. The locals still talk about the impromptu jams of music legends from the hippy invasion of the 60's
