Drive-Thru Tree Park

Drive-Thru Tree Park

Known world-wide, it's the first large redwood grove located 185 miles north of San Francisco at the junction of US101 and Coast Hwy 1. A beautiful setting in 200 acres of virgin redwood forest preserved in it's natural state for your quiet enjoyment.

The Chandelier Drive-Thru Tree, still thriving, towers 315 feet into the sky with a 21 foot base diameter; it is so named for its unique limb structure. Branching out approximately 100 feet above the ground and measuring from 4 to 8 feet in diameter, the limbs themselves are larger than many mature trees. It has attracted guests to our area for over 50 years.

There is an excellent gift shop with film and restrooms, a day use picnic area, and you can take nature walks through the forest. With a nominal entrance fee, the park is open 8:30 am to dusk year-round, except on Christmas and Thanksgiving.

Length of Byway or Route: 1/4 of a mile in from the toll booth and less than that back out

Driving Directions

From the South, you may take the "South Leggett" exit, turn left on Drive Thru Tree Road and follow for approximately 1 mile. The entrance to the park will be on the left hand side. From the north, you will turn right at the junction of Hwy 101 and Coast Hwy 1, then left onto Drive Thru Tree Road and follow the signs.
