California Redwoods Birding Trail

< Back

Towering redwoods define the character of the California Redwoods Birding Trail.

Photo © F.L. Hiser, Jr.

Del Norte County, on California's wild Redwood Coast, has recorded more species of birds (421 as of 2007) than eighteen entire U.S. states and nine Canadian territories and provinces. The birding trail's forty-four best viewing sites are marked throughout the county along a hundred-mile driving route.

Maps indicating the route and selection of birds that might be viewed are available at local chambers of commerce, visitor centers, and park nature stores.

Best Time for Viewing: Mornings

Best Months and Seasons for Viewing: Spring and Fall migrations

 ADA Accessibility Notes
Various locations have ADA accessible bathrooms.

 Pet Friendly Notes
Since this is a driving tour with stops, family pets may accompany viewers in their cars.
