Originally known as "Hotel Benbow," the hotel opened in 1926 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Architect Albert Farr was commissioned by the Benbow family to create a distinctive Tudor-style hotel that was a convenient resort for motorists traveling along the newly completed Redwood Highway in the mid-1920's. The hotel was also a popular destination for Hollywood elite and dignitaries including Eleanor Roosevelt, Herbert Hoover, Spencer Tracy, Clark Gable and Alan Ladd.

The hotel is located between San Francisco and Eureka on a rock promontory above the banks of the Eel River. The beautiful setting and luxury accommodations make Benbow Inn a popular destination for tourists who seeking to experience the history and rugged beauty of the Redwood Coast.

The Benbow Inn offers a variety of amenities, including a restaurant, garden, lounge, golf-course, bicycles, pool and Jacuzzi amongst other services. Each room is appointed with antiques.

Approximately 9 miles north of the town of Piercy, take the BENBOW EXIT #636.
Take the BENBOW DR ramp toward BENBOW LAKE.

Turn RIGHT to stay on LAKE BENBOW DR. (Go under freeway)
Stay on LAKE BENBOW DR. — curves to the right — follow (approx. 1/8 mile) to Hotel.
