The Arcata Farmer's Market takes place in the Arcata Plaza on Saturdays between April and November from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. The North Coast Growers Association Farmers Market was established in 1979 by a handful of farmers. They began selling from the back of their trucks in the vacant lot at the foot of F and 7th Streets in Arcata, eventually becoming one of the first markets of its kind in California. Membership in the NCGA is open to residents of Humboldt County, and today the organization has over 100 members, including over over 80 member-farmers.
The Farmers Market features live entertainment and visitors can also enjoy the Plaza's many dining and shopping boutiques. Vendors typically sell live plants, fresh flowers, locally grown produce, hot coffee and snacks, and artisanal goods made by North Coast craftspeople. Shoppers come to taste and experience flavors such as local honey, fudge, and cider.
Hours Open: 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Seasons Open: April - November
Dates for this Market: April 11, 2009 - November 21, 2009
Many of the vendors and farmers are sustainable, local, and/or organic producers.
